CaseyPorn

Casey Porn is a small dog enthusiast with an affinity for bright colors and clean lines. Her mixed media paintings are done primarily in ink and acrylic paint. Casey’s work depicts the secret lives of animals, connecting their plight with the human struggle.

Casey studied drawing and painting at North Carolina State University School of Design from 1997-2001, graduating with a Bachelors of Art and Design. Her work has been included in many exhibitions in North Carolina, and galleries in NYC. She currently lives and works in Raleigh, NC with her two small dogs and a regular sized man.

“The work for this show draws inspiration from the space, The Pink Building, and the color itself. I thought about what pink represents in our culture the things we associate with it. Feelings about love, coupling, and gender are present in the work. During this process, I married my long time partner. As a result of our legal union, I will be changing my name. The idea of becoming someone else is both liberating and terrifying. These pieces explore notions of transformation and identity. If I’m not Casey Porn, am I still Casey Porn?”
